Shamus' Juice Fast, Day 1

Day 1
As much as anything else, this is a mental exercise for me. I routinely get annoyed with hearing people say "I can't" do this or that. Most often I believe people simply do not want to do something or are otherwise poorly motivated.
The fast for me, is just a way to keep myself mentally sharp.
Day 1 came and went easily enough. If I had to be honest about it, I found that I was never hungry at all. When I did find myself wanting to eat, it was because that was what I was accustomed to doing. On a number of occasions I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge for no reason at all. Just habit.
In it's purest sense, shouldn't food simply provide us with fuel to exist?
Of course, there is a social element to how we eat. We have friends over for "dinner".  We go out for "drinks". We have a working or business "lunch".
Such encounters will never and should never be removed from how we live.  I do however, believe  if we were honest, we eat more than we need to on a regular basis. If you were bored enough to bring math into it, consider how many calories you consume each day, how many your body discards, and how many you need to provide you with energy sufficient to function. I think we have long since abandoned our natural design for life on this planet. Eating being one of many such components to that reality.
