Aiden Of The Hood

One of my favorite actors is Errol Flynn. I'm quite certain I've seen all his films at least once. Growing up I would watch one, rewind it, and start it all over again. As good a film as any made today is Flynn in "The Adventures Of Robin Hood". When looking at films in individual facets that combine to tell a story, this movie has them all. From great music, to costuming, to a well paced script, there is always something on the screen worth watching when this movie is on.
As with any tale of Robin Hood, the bow and arrow is a central part of the story line. Throughout history, and the history of film, there has always been a romantic and heroic element present when this ancient item is showcased. The bow and arrow feeds the needy and defends the helpless. It wins battles and impresses the ladies. When you think bow and arrow, you think of the good guys. Even in real life, how often do you hear of evil being done with a bow? Many a crazed person will pick up a blade or a gun to do harm, whereas the image of the bow is clean cut.
For some time now I have thought there would be value in teaching my boys to use a bow. It would be a great way to develop patience and hand-eye coordination. It takes many great character traits to be effective and successful with the bow. Be it competition or sportsmanship, or the defense of life, the benefits of learning about this age-old device could be huge.
A few days ago Aiden and I spent time together learning the basics.
I'm thrilled to report he has taken to it quite well! Even in the testing range at the store, his very first shot found it's mark! I've thoroughly enjoyed standing beside him and watching him have fun while getting a little better with every draw of the string. It makes me exceedingly proud to see that he possesses the skills needed to land an arrow consistently. I believe his personality has many of the traits worthy of this fine instrument.
Kris is quite anxious for him to continue to do well with his newest hobby. She has said, "this is good training for him. In a few more years, it will be my time with him and a Glock".

P.S.
Interesting to  consider:
The theme commonly associated with Robin Hood is "rob the rich to feed the poor" This theme, taken on its own, may ring of socialism. However, looking closely at the many stories of Robin Hood will reveal the chief offender to often be those in a position of government.

Wow, glad you are taking your cue from Erol Flynn and not Robin Hood: Men in Tights! He seems to have really good form! Great job Sha! He would be happy to know Amanda had a brief stint with a toy bow and arrow after watching the movie "Brave". I was hoping she would continue with it.
