It seems to me that children are farmed out for much of what is taught to them. For academics, they go to school. For faith, they visit church or Sunday school. For athletics, any number of coaches or teams. Grandparents and babysitters fill in lots of blanks as well. All in all, parenting seems like a part time gig. Everyone does a little of the work for you, right?
While that may be the case practically speaking, you as the parent are ultimately responsible for what type of adult your child becomes. The years you have to influence that end product are precious few. Once a child reaches the ages of 17, 18, 19 years old, your chances of genuinely influencing his/her independent decision making is exponentially less. Meanwhile it is during those early years that we see them farmed out to the most amount of people.
Does your child know the joy of giving outlasts the pleasure of receiving?
Does your child know decisions made in seconds can yield results that last a lifetime?
Does your child know that genuine evil exists in this world?
Have your told them any of these things? Do you live out these things for them to see?

It's 2 years later and it was fun taking a rainy day drive with AIDEN and Shamus to deliver some funds to a family in need. This time AIDEN didn't deliver in a box, but in a zip lock BAG. I REALLY APPRECIATE THE FRONT ROW SEAT I have of AIDEN being groomed for greatness.
