Tuna Sandwiches And Gunplay

This weekend came to an end in fitting fashion, at the fireside. Tonight, we had a few guest contributors stop by. Mom and Dad wandered in to keep us entertained.
We were treated to two stories, one from each of them. From the east side, the United Nations, Mom recalled a school trip from years ago.
Sitting down and opening the lunch Cap had packed for her, my Mom realized that a tuna fish sandwich was on the menu. Barely taking one bite, she found the sandwich to be way too soggy for her taste. Deciding to eat only the snacks that were also packed for her, my mom wrapped up the sandwich and threw it into the nearest trash can.
Before she could retake her seat, a homeless man was quick to inspect what had been discarded. My mom recalled vividly how carefully he unwrapped it and with delight, ate the entire thing. It wasn't too soggy for him, he didn’t mind the half bite that may have been already taken from it. This tuna sandwich was now deemed absolutely perfect. Years later my Mother recalls this as a valuable life lesson that she will never forget. Thanks to the fireside, neither will I.
Across town, from the west side, my Dad's story goes like this......
My Dad and his partner find themselves with a work assignment in Harlem. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 123 street and Lenox ave. My Dad's partner is the first to take the turn down an alleyway and be greeted by a man pointing a gun at him. As soon as my dad rounded the same corner he was greeted in like fashion by a second armed man. The demands from these two men were quite clear. "We want your wallets, your paychecks, and your jeans." Yes, my dad and his partner were about to get caught with their pants down. The assailants requests were honored in short order. Perhaps the more interesting aspect of this story is that my Father and his friend now proceeded to walk back to the company truck, several blocks away, wearing nothing but long johns and their tool belts. Nary a soul gave them a second look. Two white guys, dressed in matching underwear, wandering the streets of Harlem. Na, nothing odd about that!
