Ummmmmm

This morning, I received the following text message from Kris........

Your son has made up a new song, the only word is "shit".

Am I supposed to be bothered by this?

I will admit it was a catchy tune. However, I am worried he will start singing it at church. SIGH.

I have a feeling the second verse to this song might not be as cute if Shamus wrote the lyrics. Phil

In NYC Public Schools, if a student used that word, a classmate would immediately report the infraction by saying that a "bad word" had been said.

This language is not permitted in school. Another reason not to send your child to such, I suppose.

Poor Aiden! He cannot yet make the decision to refrain from such language and will find himself in embarassing situations.

In short, you should be bothered to the point of making changes, but you are not, and that is regrettable.

Shamus, control your language in front of Aiden. If he starts using bad words before he grows, he's going to use worse words when he's older. You won't be able to control him, even if you wash his mouth out with soap. That's what my father did to me.

It's not such a bad word, but it's a beginning.

Hey Kris, was it to the beat of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"?

Shamus said...

Wow, I even got Boogers in on it!

No Riter, it was an original composition all the way! So, while part of me is proud of his song writing accomplishments, the other part of me is VERY upset with Shamus for starting this. It's not easy being me.

o my i dont think telling not to say wont work because he really doesnt know what he is saying... but i have found him to pick up what ever is said so careful with our words... its hard not to laugh because he is so cute.. i wouldnt stress over it to much.. till he gets to be a little older.. all kids say things that tend to make thier parents shudder...

o my i find that aiden does pick up everything.. so we do have to watch what we say.... i dont think telling him not to say that wont work because he probably doesnt know what he is saying.. if u fuss about it he may thinks is cute and keep on saying it.. take heart krissy your little boy is just that a little boy...

sadly aiden will pick up words he shouldnt say. once he starts really playing with other kids he is bound to hear some words.you can keep him from saying them but at two he just doesnt know any better.
