Happy Ann-rita-rafting-iversary

This weekend, Kris and I will be married for eleven years......how to celebrate????
Eleven is not exactly the most celebratory of years. It isn't the big ten year event. Nor are we quite at fifteen yet either. Not that it matters. We haven't observed any of our past anniversaries in standard fashion. Lets take a look at a few.
The First.
Technically not our first...but how about our honeymoon. We didn't travel overseas, we didn't seek out a strange, exotic far away land. Ummmmm well maybe we did.....
We went to the BRONX for a few day trips to Yankee stadium. We wandered around the fine dining and shopping establishments of the area. If you know anything about the Bronx, you know that means hot dog carts and street vendors. We had a blast!
Nine and Ten years.
Dinner with Rita and 100 5th graders.
We accompanied the students of LCBC on summer events.
As shown in the photo below, I'm posting this while sitting by the fire with a few of the best people God has ever built. This is quite exemplary of our eleven years together. Kris and I are the absolute product of many great people. Right now, my senses are alive. The smell of the fire, the taste of wine, and the sounds of my friends talking amongst themselves.
Kris has been nothing short of an angel over the past few months. My change in jobs, and consequently the changes in how often I see my friends has been very difficult for me. Kris has been a rock through it all. She continues to be understanding of how much I love some of these people. Always selfless, she creates an atmosphere wherein they are always welcome in our home.
Tomorrow, we'll be hitting the water! Here is an excerpt from the guide service describing what we have signed up for.

Class V: Expert. Extremely long, obstructed, or very turbulent rapids which expose a paddler to added risk. Drops may contain large, unavoidable waves and holes or steep, congested chutes with complex, demanding routes. Rapids may continue for long distances between pools, demanding a high level of fitness. What eddies exist may be small, forceful, or difficult to reach. At the high end of the scale, several of these factors may be combined. Swims are dangerous, and rescue is often difficult even for experts. Proper equipment, extensive experience, and practiced rescue skills are essential.
Class VI: Extreme and Exploratory. These runs have almost never been attempted and often exemplify the extremes of difficulty, unpredictability and danger. The consequences of errors are very severe and rescue may be impossible. For teams of experts only, at favorable water levels, after close personal inspection and taking all precautions. After Class VI rapids has been run many times, it's rating may be changed to an appropriate Class 5 rating.
After 11 years together, this will be a piece of cake.
