New York City is a pretty big place. Restaurants and hotels number in the thousands.
I've spent my fair share of time in and out of many of them over the years. Most times, I walk away from them having a great story to tell. This past weekend, I had to reach back a bit and pull one from the past.
Last night, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Arguably, one of the more extravagant hotels in a city with no shortness of extravagance. Most of my time was spent in one of the many conference rooms with all the trimmings. What are the chances that I would end up in this room, in this hotel. After all, within just a few blocks from here are dozens of other places that could have accommodated the group of us for this training exercise.
A few years ago, the scene in this room was quite different. Amidst all the corporate money and high dollar bar tabs this weekend, I was grateful to have a much better story to tell of time spent in this room.
Dad is on the right, I'm on the left. Everyone knows who is in the middle, right?
