Day 7
When children are newborns, parents seek out very specific foods to feed them. Perhaps mom breastfeeds for a time or decides to use formula. Once that time passes however, mom and dad run out to the store in search of a new food supply. Most often in small jars, baby's new diet consists of fruits and vegetables, and any combination thereof.
Nowhere else in nature do we see growth and development that compares to that of a human infant. The medical community will often describe the development of a newborn child's brain to be "calorie ravenous". All of this happens on a plant based diet for at least a year.
Even in terms of the painfully obvious, there is no real alternative for a 7 month old. They have no teeth just yet, and the rest of their young body is not fully prepared to handle pizza or chicken alfredo. It seems to me we get a bit lost along the way. Once again, I have no interest in a vegetarian lifestyle. My question is, should we be at the other extreme, forsaking the very food sources that propel us into existence soon after birth?
To offer an example of the extreme possibilities that can be achieved on these same foods in adulthood, here is a quick look into professional athletes and their plant based diets.
